For the past year The Core Mayo has been giving young musicians in the Mayo community a platform to showcase their talents, be it our open mic, our showcases or our many pop up festival stages and various other events countywide and beyond! The Core Open Mic (One Year Anniversary) with Special Guests! is open to all young performers aged 12 to 18. It’s FREE and friends and family are always welcome!!! Come support the wealth of talent we have here in Mayo!!!

The Core Showcase 2017

The Core is a resource for young musicians and schools in the Mayo community. It is run under the auspices of Music Generation Mayo and housed within Ballina Arts Centre. At The Core, young people aged 12 to 18 can engage in instrumental tuition, workshops, camps and regular performance opportunities such as open mics and showcases.

There will be live performances from participants of the various classes, camps, workshops and transition year school programmes ran by The Core throughout 2017. The showcase will also highlight the many talented members of The Core who use the resource to hone their musical craft.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that The Core Mayo will have it’s very own stage throughout the entire week of the Ballina Salmon Festival – Mayo There will be daily concerts featuring the talented members of The Core and the various Music Generation Mayo programmes. The stage is also open to young musicians from throughout Mayo as our aim is to provide a platform for young local musicians. The Core open mic is a monthly event where we transform the mezzanine area of the Ballina Arts Centre into a vibrant and intimate performance space. The stage is open to young musicians and performers aged 12 to 18 and we can accommodate full bands! It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet like minded musical people from across the county and get experience performing in front an attentive and appreciative audience. It’s also an opportunity to meet members of The Core, get a tour and even sign up to become a member yourself! As always, friends and family are more than welcome to come along and our performers always appreciate the support!
