We are absolutely delighted to announce that The Core Mayo will have it’s very own stage throughout the entire week of the Ballina Salmon Festival – Mayo There will be daily concerts featuring the talented members of The Core and the various Music Generation Mayo programmes. The stage is also open to young musicians from throughout Mayo as our aim is to provide a platform for young local musicians. The Core open mic is a monthly event where we transform the mezzanine area of the Ballina Arts Centre into a vibrant and intimate performance space. The stage is open to young musicians and performers aged 12 to 18 and we can accommodate full bands! It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet like minded musical people from across the county and get experience performing in front an attentive and appreciative audience. It’s also an opportunity to meet members of The Core, get a tour and even sign up to become a member yourself! As always, friends and family are more than welcome to come along and our performers always appreciate the support!

Hey everybody!!!

It was an absolutely action packed 2016. A lot has happened since we opened in November. We have members from all over the county in the form of bands, duos, solo artists, budding engineers and young people who are just looking to meet like minded music enthusiast and get involved in this thriving new music scene here in Mayo!

The open mics have been a blast and the Christmas Showcase was a massive success with music fans travelling from all across the county to support the talent we have here at The Core!

We have lots of exciting things coming up! The first open mic of 2017 is nearly upon us (Monday 23/01/17 @6pm) and we have a range of exciting tuition, workshops and camps starting very soon! Enrollment for our Guitar and Drum classes is Monday 30/01/17 at 5pm til 7pm at Ballina Arts Centre. We are also taking enrollment for our upcoming Recording Basics weekly workshops!

We also have an intensive recording/production camp coming up on February 20th – 24th where we will be producing a song from concept to finished product! More info to follow very soon! We have more exciting news but you will just have to wait 🙂

Introducing “The Core”
Open Mic and Information evening

Age: 12-18 yrs., Parents/guardians/families welcome.

Do you play a musical instrument or sing? Are you curious about music production in the studio or in a live setting? Maybe you have a band or perhaps you would like to start or join one? Do you want to meet like minded creative people and make music in a positive and supportive environment? No matter what your musical style and taste is, we would love to hear from you here at The Core!!!

The Core is a creative space for young musicians, under the auspices of Music Generation Mayo and housed within Ballina Arts Centre. At The Core, you can express yourself and work on your music. We have a dedicated rehearsal space with lots of instruments including electric guitars, drums, piano, synths, a range of amplification, PA, and studio recording equipment. All you need to do is come along, make music, meet people and have fun! Members of The Core also have access to a range of performance opportunities and industry workshops!
